How To Restart a Writing Practice

So, remember when I attempted to kickstart Writing Wednesdays on my other blog, and it stalled out? I may have overestimated my capacity to take on a weekly writing practice while creating a custom calendar and working three jobs... That was my bad.

But I'm not one to give up so easily! I've decided to switch things up and make Writing Wednesdays more like a virtual book club. If I can't handle the pressure of writing something brilliant to inspire you to write every week, I can at least handle writing about someone else's brilliance, right?

So, here's the plan: I've picked up The Complete Artist's Way by Julia Cameron, and I'm diving into it headfirst. Each week, I'll share something that struck a chord with me or that I found particularly helpful, kind of like a Writing Wednesday book club. I'd love for you to join me in reading and doing the exercises, but if you're too busy binge-watching Bridgerton for the 10th time or putting out fires at your day job, don't worry – you're still welcome to hop in and chat about writing stuff.

All of us are creative. We can all become more creative through engaging God, the Great Creator, in our process.

-Julia Cameron

The best part? Cameron broke her creative system into weeks, so I have a premade creative schedule. I am working smarter, not harder, and I hope to be exiting my writing flop era. Next week, I'll be recapping my adventures in Week One, and there will be tales of triumph, struggle, and probably a fair amount of tears.

So, if you're into writing and self-discovery, or you just enjoy watching someone fumble through literary endeavors, follow along with this revamped #WritingWednesdays practice. It's going to be messy, it's going to be fun, and hopefully, it will make us better writers!

Do you see how I'm keeping it simple for this writing practice? Very demure, very mindful.
