Taylor Russell: Fall Fashion Icon

Although summer is my favorite season, with its long hours of sunshine, easy, simple outfits, and perfect beach days, fall is my favorite season for fashion. Because it is New York Fashion Week, a time for inspired looks on and off the runway, I’d like to share my most recent favorite fashion icon, the ever-chic Taylor Russell. An actress and model, this icon’s street style can best be described as a balance of contrasts. Her outfits are casual but polished, oversized yet tailored, trendy and timeless. My favorite part of her style is that it’s easy to replicate on any budget. I’ll show a few of my favorite looks, and I bet you’ll find at least one piece of her style that you will add to your wardrobe.

Business Casual

This is one of the first looks I saw Taylor in. I love the classic simplicity of an oversized cream shirt with a tailored loose-fit jean and a patent leather kitten heel. The olive green leather trench is a perfect edition and adds interest to the look without being too showy. Anyone who has seen me walk around the city knows I’m married to my baseball caps. It’s a perfect way to leave the house without doing anything with my hair. But here, Taylor proves that casual doesn’t need to be sloppy.

Girl’s Best Friend

If I had to describe my style with one image, this would be it. I love the all-black turtleneck and pants under a tan leather trench. Smart casual with sneakers, oversized headphones, a canvas tote, and the most essential accessory: a cute pup. My dog Bingley goes everywhere with me; his little accessories often match my fit. Adidas Sambas have become a popular staple in workwear as Gen Z has rejected the fashionable torture of heels. If your workplace allows sneakers on casual Fridays, this is the fit I recommend.

City Blues

If I could steal one item from Taylor’s wardrobe, it would be this classic men’s Giorgio Armani Trench. Styled with a blue baseball cap, baggy jeans, and cute black ballet flats, this outfit is perfect for a Saturday brunch with your friends or a solo coffee date with a book. It is another great example of matching without being matchy-matchy.

Power Suit

This vintage gray John Galliano suit is sheer perfection. It screams businesswoman and woman who means business. This suit is a great alternative to the tried-and-true pants suit. The slim waist with the shoulder pads adds an extra layer of femininity, and I am obsessed with the stitchwork of the lapels and the inside of the elbows on the jacket.

Classic Fall Fit

This is my perfect fall outfit. It features a relaxed wool coat for crisp fall breezes layered over a light turtleneck, slacks, a Loewe basket bag, and soft leather loafers from The Row. While I’d love to own a pair of thousand-dollar shoes, my budget requires that I recreate the look with a pair from ASOS.
